Course and race profile

The race (44.8km) starts climbing to the Virgen de Valmayor chapel, the Saint Patron of Potes, where all runners will be blessed before getting into Tobiles (the biggest cork oak forest in Cantabria). After a quick rest we will get on the
crest line that will lead us towards the Jaro peak at 1.446 meters high. It’s a perfect spot to enjoy the wonderful scenery on the Liébana region and the Picos de Europa’s mountains.

From this point the race will go a long way downhill towards Sierra de Campo Largo and the village of La Vega. The next guidepost is Valmeo, as we cross Quiviesa river, we’ll start going uphill towards mount Viorna. Before reaching
the peak, we’ll have the opportunity to enjoy the scenery from the Viorna Cross viewpoint. It is one of the most visited viewpoints in Liébana and a strategic spot for paragliding lovers.

During the last part of the race, which goes along with our hiking trek, runners will have to face the descent towards Camaleño valley, while crossing the Maredes mountain pass and Bodia town. It’s a zone of slight inclination that
leads to the monastery of Santo Toribio, where runners will enter as peculiar pilgrims. Once at the monastery, there are only three kilometres left to cross the finish line in Potes, putting an end to this unique adventure.
